Laugh Breaks & Joy

I always really appreciate a day of fun synchronicities. Yesterday, the day kicked off with sessions where we spent a good deal of time talking about laughter and the necessity of having fun because of the Joy it brings. I've also been energetically preparing for our next group Healing session focused on Joy. And by the time I got to my teacher's weekly meditation, I was tickled to hear that our session was on Joy and Laughter. From my heart that is open in Joy & Laughter, I offer the Laugh Break exercise.
TLDR: Go to the Exercise, or my silly Laugh Track.

During client sessions yesterday we talked quite a bit about shifting the relationship with our reactions to things and lightening them up. My Guides mentioned that most of us are taking our Spiritual Growth and Expansion SO incredibly seriously that we forget to have fun. The invitation was to start laughing at any ‘missteps’ instead of admonishing them because when we cling to our expectations of ourselves on our paths, it can cause whatever distorted energy (non-beneficial habit, idea, etc.) we want to release to grip even more tightly in our fields. When we can laugh at things, it relaxes the gripping and allows the energy to shift. Twice during the day yesterday, I heard "Laughter Supports Joy. Joy is a step toward Divine Neutrality."
So the Laugh Break was brought out as a homework (Soul Work) invitation. The idea is that it supports us in becoming quicker to laughter by exercising our laugh muscles. The laugh break is simple. Twice a day, spend a minute or two laughing.
If you feel resistance to doing this, see how powerful this funny little exercise can be:
Physically, laughter oxygenates the brain and improves circulation, reduces the stress hormone cortisol, and releases endorphins- dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin.
The release of endorphins can reduce anxiety and support calmer moods and mental activity. Energetically, laughter supports joy, which can dramatically increase your frequency in an incredibly short period of time. Not only that, but we are constantly releasing energy. Laughter is one of my personal favorite ways to release. And- have you ever been in a room when someone starts laughing? It's contagious and spreads joy in an instant. When we're in joy, it becomes easier to anchor in our highest possible frequency and radiate it out into the world.
"Laugh Break" Exercise:
If you don't already laugh every day, you may feel silly doing this at first. If so, lean into it. Allow the silliness to fuel your laughter.
Spend 1-2 minutes twice a day. Set a reminder on your phone if you need to. If you REALLY don't feel like doing it, maybe try for 3 times a day.
If you can't think of anything funny, start off with an audible - HA. Then HA HA. HA HA HA. HA HA HA HA. Keep going until you're genuinely laughing.
Allow yourself to be carried away by the sound of your laughter and keep it going as long as its genuine.
When you're done, wipe the joyful tears from your eyes and go about your day.
Gentle Suggestions:
If you have kids, it would be delightful to do this with them. Kids aren't afraid to be silly and enjoy their laughter. And if you don't have kids, consider inviting your own inner child out to play.
You may decide to keep a little log of your laugh breaks. Notice how you feel after you do it. Notice if it shifts how you respond to things. Does it make any differences in your physical, emotional, or mental energy? Do you feel lighter when you're done?
I recorded a quick laugh track for you if you need help getting going. The laughter is genuine, because at the beginning, I kept thinking about how ridiculous it was to be randomly laughing into a microphone. About 40 seconds in, it gets really good. It's less than two minutes long. Enjoy: Laugh Track
Love & Laughs to you,
Carly
